VIASAT INCLUDES KANAL 5 IN BROADBAND PAY-TV OFFERING

Modern Times Group MTG AB, the international entertainment broadcasting group, today announced that Viasat Broadcasting has added the Swedish TV-channel ‘Kanal 5’ to its broadband pay-TV offering, which is currently available to 300,000 broadband households in Sweden. Viasat is the first broadcaster in Sweden to offer TV via broadband across the entire country, which is being enabled via Bredbandsbolaget’s fibre network. The new pay-TV offering will be extended to all Bredbandsbolaget DSL-connected households during 2005, as well as five broadband Urban City networks.

Viasat´s complete IP-TV pay-TV-package costs SEK 299 per month and offers access to 29 TV channels, featuring the best in general entertainment, documentary, movie and sports programming from Sweden and around the world. Customers signing up for a twelve-month subscription will be offered a new set-top box for SEK 1, which can be plugged directly into the broadband connection in the home. The pay-TV package now includes Viasat´s TV3, ZTV and TV8 channels; Kanal5, as well as Viasat’s six TV1000 thematic movie channels and three dedicated Viasat Sport channels; Viasat Explorer, Viasat Nature/Action and the newly launched Viasat History; BBC World, Hallmark, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon, Fox News, Bloomberg, the Travel Channel and the two Playboy channels.
