The extension of these rights means that MTG’s Viasat Golf, the only dedicated golf channel in Northern Europe, and Viaplay, MTG’s online streaming service, will continue to show more than 1200 live hours/year of the most exciting golf available.
MTG has also agreed to acquire the exclusive rights for the Wimbledon grand slam tennis tournament for Denmark, also until the end of 2018.
All rights are being acquired through IMG Nordic.
“I am delighted to announce the extension of the exclusive rights to show these key golf tournaments. We have saved our dedicated golf fans from the risk of boredom and we have once again delivered on our promise of offering the very best sports content to our subscribers.”
Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, MTG President and CEO
Viasat Golf is one of MTG’s premium pay-TV channels. It is broadcast between 12:00 and 02:00 every day, and for longer hours when there are live events outside Europe. Viasat Golf was launched in the Nordics in 2007 and in the Baltics in 2009. The tournaments are also available on the online streaming service Viaplay for customers who subscribe to the Sports package.
